Who is covered

  • Workers employed on site in the WA construction industry in a classification of work in a prescribed award.
  • Apprentices and working-visa holders.
  • Eligible foreman-type supervisors.
  • Construction work on vessels is covered from 1 January 2026.
  • Not covered: yard and workshop staff, administration, clerical and managerial staff.

When you qualify

You need 10 years, counted as 2,200 service days (220 days = 1 year).

What you get

You get 8 2/3 weeks of paid leave after 10 years, and 4 1/3 weeks for each further 5 years. You are paid your ordinary rate of pay averaged over your last 220 days of service. Leave is taken in periods of at least 1 week, and your first entitlement can be taken on at most 3 occasions.

Leaving early, illness, retirement and death

  • Pro rata of 6 weeks after 7 years (1,540 days), including a payout when your employment ends. This breaks your service.
  • From 29 August 2025, a proportional payment with at least 55 days of service for total and permanent incapacity, terminal illness or death.
  • Otherwise there is no payment below 7 years.

How it is paid

MyLeave pays a single payment into your bank account. Leave is taxed at the weekly rate. Claims when your employment has ended are taxed as lump sums.

How to claim

Claim through the MyLeave portal at https://myleaveprod.powerappsportals.com/signin. The MyLeave worker information page and FAQs explain what you need.

Before you rely on this

  • Taking the 7-year pro rata payout on ceasing employment breaks your service.
  • Only on-site work counts. Yard, workshop and office roles are excluded.
  • Your pay rate is the average over your last 220 days of service.
